Your First Visit

What to Expect During Your First Visit to Dentist of Long Beach

At Dentist of Long Beach, we start every first visit with a new patient consultation. A new patient consultation allows us to get to know you and learn about your wants and needs. It also gives you a chance to get to know us better, too. During your first visit to your Long Beach dentist, you’ll start to develop trust in your dental team and confidence in their diagnoses and treatment recommendations. You’ll also feel heard because we take the time to listen to your wants, needs, and concerns.

Get to Know Our Team

The very first thing you’ll notice when you enter our office is the contemporary, state-of-the-art design. The next thing you’ll notice is the warm welcome you will receive from our friendly team.

You’ll be met with a smile at the front desk. Our team will make sure we have all the information we need (new patient forms, your dental insurance information, etc.).

Then, you’ll be escorted into one of our exam rooms where you’ll meet Dr. Omid or Dr. Hamid and their assistants. Your Long Beach dentist and their team of dental hygienists will treat you with kindness, dignity, and respect.

Your Dental Paperwork

When you schedule your new patient appointment, we’ll direct you to our website where you’ll find downloadable new patient forms. Once you fill them out, we’ll upload them to our system, so we have them on file for each visit.

At your appointment, your Long Beach dentist will review your paperwork and ask further questions about your dental and medical health histories (if necessary).

This casual interview helps us to get to know you and your needs better, allowing us to provide the best care possible.

What Are Your Questions, Goals, and Concerns?

You’re an integral part of our dental team. We want to know what’s on your mind. Therefore, you are more than welcome to ask questions, voice your concerns, and inform us of your dental goals.

Doing so will not only help us address your concerns and ease your mind, but it will also help us create a treatment plan that is unique to you and help you achieve the smile of your dreams.

The Oral Evaluation

Now, it’s time for your comprehensive oral evaluation.

Your Long Beach dentist will examine your:

  • Teeth
  • Gums (checking the depths of your gum pockets, as well as the overall condition of your gingival tissue)
  • Soft tissues (cheeks, lips, palate, tongue, etc.)
  • Jaw joint

During your exam, your dentist will check for:

  • Dental decay
  • Gum disease
  • Oral cancer
  • Other soft-tissue conditions
  • TMJD (temporomandibular joint disorder)

To aid in doing this, your dentist may order various diagnostic tests, like dental x-rays or intraoral images.

Treatment Planning

Based on the diagnostic tests and oral examination, your Long Beach dentist will create a custom treatment plan. This plan will address all your needs – from preventative treatments like regular cleanings to restorative and cosmetic treatments like crowns, veneers, and teeth whitening.

Consulting with Our Financial Manager

Finally, you’ll talk about all things insurance and payment planning with a member of our friendly team. We’ll help you understand your insurance plan better and give you an idea of how much they’ll cover toward the proposed services on your treatment plan.

We can even work out a payment arrangement that will help make getting and paying for dental treatment easier than ever.
